Where is the center of Iranian pistachios?


Pistachio is one of the delicious varieties of Iranian nuts that most of us are very interested in. The famous Greek historian Herodotus referred to Persian pistachios in his writings. Pistachio tree has a long history in Iran, in some cultivation documents it is mentioned as four thousand years ago. This plant first grew wild in the northeastern regions of Iran. At present, Iran has 360,000 hectares of pistachio orchards, from which about 300,000 tons of pistachios are harvested annually. Rafsanjan city in Kerman province is the cradle of pistachio in Iran. Kerman province with a total of more than 270,000 hectares of fertile and infertile orchards produces 77% of the total crop and is considered as the most important pistachio growing region in Iran and the world. In addition, other pistachio-growing provinces are Yazd, Khorasan, Fars, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Qazvin, Markazi, Isfahan and Qom, which occupy 90,000 hectares of the remaining area.
